For the day the tap stops
When the tap stops, will your family still have water on day four?
The government asks every home to keep three days of water. Most homes don't have one. The Field Pump turns the rain butt, the bath or a stream into clean drinking water, by hand, for as long as it takes.

Why households are acting now
When the warning comes, the water goes first.

2 weeks
without safe tap water for about 24,000 homes in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, after a treatment-works failure.
29 November to 12 December 2025
Picture the morning it happens
It's a grey Tuesday in February. A storm took the power overnight, and now nothing comes out of the kitchen tap. The radio says the treatment works is down: three days, perhaps longer. The grandchildren are staying. The supermarket shelves were empty by nine.
What happens in your home next depends on one decision you can make today.
Without a plan
- You count the bottles in the cupboard. It isn't many.
- You queue at the water station and carry it home, twice a day.
- You ration the kettle, the washing-up and the children's baths.
- And you wonder what you'll do if it lasts into next week.
With the Household Reserve
- You take the canvas roll from the drawer and walk to the rain butt.
- Twelve minutes of pumping later, the 20-litre carrier is full of clean water.
- The kettle goes on. The radio plays. The children don't even notice.
- A neighbour knocks to ask how you're managing. You fill her jug too.
Why most homes aren't ready
It isn't your fault. The advice stops at day three.
You did the sensible thing and kept some water by. Here is what nobody explains.
-
Stored water has a ceiling
Three days for four people is 36 litres and 36 kg of bottles. Most homes simply don't have the room, so most homes stop short.
-
The shelves empty first
The moment a warning goes out, everyone buys the same bottles. If you haven't got them by then, you won't.
-
Outages don't read the advice
Kent's 2025 outage lasted two weeks, not three days. When the bottles run out, you need a way to make more water, not store it.
The water calculator
How much water would your home need?
Move the slider to your household. Most people are surprised.
Based on the official 3 litres per person per day, for drinking and basic hygiene.
You would need to store
36 litres
That is 3 supermarket multipacks (6 × 2 L), about 36 kg to carry home and find room for, and gone on day 4.
Or keep one Field Pump in the drawer.
12 minutes
of pumping makes a full day's water for your household, every day, for as long as the outage lasts.
Choose my Household Reserve →The answer is already in your garden
Your home is surrounded by water. It just isn't drinkable yet.
What fails in an outage is the treatment, not the water. The Field Pump brings the treatment home.
The rain butt
A 200-litre butt holds more than five days of water for a family of four.
The bath
Fill it when an outage warning comes. A full bath is roughly 150 litres.
Streams and ponds
Fresh water only. Not water near roads, farms or industry that may carry chemicals.
The hot-water tank
Often 100 litres or more, drawn from the drain valve once it has cooled.
The collection
Four tools. One plan for the household.
Water at home, water on the move, and the light and news to get you through the first night.
Free gifts with every kit
The bigger the reserve, the more we include.
Every kit comes with a free gift. Choose the Family Reserve and you get all three, including the Lamplighter radio and torch.

What we believe
We believe being prepared should feel calm, not frightening.
We believe in tools you can repair, refill and rely on, with every part sold separately.
We believe you should know exactly what a filter can and cannot do before you trust your family's water to it.
What our filters do not do
Read this before you buy.
- They do not remove salt. Do not filter sea water.
- They are not designed for water contaminated by fuel, chemicals or industrial run-off.
- Virus removal is claimed only where our lab report shows it. Where viruses are a concern, use the purification tablets in the Field Pack or boil filtered water.
- Cartridges wear out. Replace them at the rated litres, or 12 months after first use.
The decision
You have two choices tonight.

And hope the next outage is short, the shelves stay full, and the bottles in the cupboard are enough.
Put a Household Reserve in the drawer
And stop wondering. If you're not happy with it, you have 100 days to send it back for every penny.
